The 2024 World Young Athletics Championship is expected to take place at the end of August in Lima, Peru. This is a tournament for athletes of U20 ages. As of June 2024, Vietnam has 2 athletes who attend the World Young Athletics Tournament:
– Tran Thi Nhi Yen: 2 standard content of 100m female, 200m female.
– Le Thi Tuyet Mai: 1 standard of 400m female fence

In the context of choosing one of the two athletes, Vietnamese athletics decided to appoint Tuyet Mai to attend the World Young Athletics Championship 2024. At the moment, Tuyet Mai is the rising young face, and has a good performance in recent times.
However, at the present time, Tuyet Mai is still a “second line” athlete in the team. She is not in the group that can dispute international medals in older age. Therefore, sending Tuyet Mai to attend the world youth athletics championship will help this athlete have more opportunities to accumulate experience.
On the side of Tran Thi Nhi Yen, this athlete is still in the age of U20. However, the strength of Nhi Yen has been in the group of leading sprinted water pins in Vietnam. At the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 in Cambodia, Nhi Yen won a bronze medal of 100m female, 200m gold medal, a very impressive result.
In the 200m female run, calculated in Southeast Asia, the parameters of Nhi Yen only lost to Shanti Pereira, Singapore athletes who have just won gold medal ASIAD. Nhi Yen also has a relatively good achievement at the Asian European Olympics, when she reached the final round in a short content.
With the achievements already in the international playground, Nhi Yen is considered one of the Vietnamese athletes capable of heading to the Olympic Arena in the future. This athlete also faces great opportunities to attend the Olympics through the invitation ticket. In this context, attending the Olympic Games will be more suitable for Nhi Yen, instead of competing at the youth world.
