The Vietnamese Athletics team is still actively practicing and competing for international tournaments to search for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games according to the official standard. In charge of the Department of Athletics (Department of Sports and Sports) and General Secretary of Vietnam Athletics Federation, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung said that Vietnam is practicing a key group of 4x400m relay, but at the same time assesses the registration of AI in August in August.
The World Athletics Federation (IAAF) confirmed that the membership of a member of the Olympic Games 2024 if the Federation did not win any official capacity. The content with the invitation is running 100m, 800m and 42km marathon.
The federation received invitations like Vietnam can only register one athlete for one of the three contents mentioned above. Particularly with marathon, the deadline IAAF received the registration as April 23, while the content running 100m and 800m has the deadline of May 31.
The Vietnam Athletics Federation refused to disclose details about the athletes who were filled in the “preliminary” list to consider registering with IAAF. However, Tran Thi Nhi Yen is emerging as the brightest face for the special feature to attend the 2024 Olympic Games.
Tran Thi Nhi Yen is 18 years old, is expected to be the new “speed queen” of Vietnamese athletics. She emerged after winning the 100m gold medal of the National Sports Festival 2022, HCV 100m and 200m of the National Athletics Championship 2023. Nhi Yen went to Vietnam Sutta Athletics since 2023 and participated in SEA Games 32 and ASIAD 19.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Vietnamese athletics did not win the official capacity. At that time, Quach Thi Lan was awarded tickets to attend the content running 400m to cross the female fence.
