Legendary F1 Michael Schumacher had a spinal accident in the DTM tournament

During the DTM racing event in Hockenheim, Germany on October 9, David Schumacher's car collided quite strongly with rival Thomas Preining. Both of them are competing after the race has just been restarted thanks to the safe car.

The collision occurred at the time when the two riders entered the 8th bend, causing Schumacher and Preining to the barrier on the side of the road. The Winward Mercedes Cyar Schumacher and some other vehicles were seriously damaged. In particular, Dennis Olsen lost control and also plunged into the barrier. Olsen's car even caught fire, with some engine parts splashed out.

The accident caused the BTC to be forced to wave the red flag to suspend the race. All related riders have been taken to medical examination. David Schumacher was originally announced normally, no serious damage.

However, the 20 -year -old racer must continue to perform the tests after complaining about back pain. The results showed that one of his lumbar vertebra was broken. David Schumacher is not surgery and only takes about 6 weeks of rest to recover.

Luckily for him when the DTM 2022 season ended, so Schumacher would not miss any race during the rehabilitation period. Ralf Schumacher, David's father and a former F1 racer, shared with Motorsport:

“When I got home, David still called back pain. Then we decided to go to a hospital in Salzburg to take a MRI.

David Schumacher is the nephew of the legendary F1 racer Michael Schumacher. The racer has been 7 times the world championship is still in the process of recovery after a serious brain injury in a ski accident in December 2013.
