Vietnam NHM tracks the content of athletics at the 31st SEA Games but has not yet grasped how much content of the competition. According to the 31st Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee, athletics will take place from May 14 to May 19 with 47 competition contents.
The Vietnamese sports delegation aims to win from 15-17 gold medals to protect the number one regional tournament. At the 31st Southeast Asian Games held at home in 2022, Vietnamese athletics attended 47 contents with 66 athletes attending.
The content of the SEA Games 31:
Running 100m, 200m, 400m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m, 3,000m obstacles, marathon (male – female); 20km walking (male – female), 110m fence (male), 100m fence (female), 7 subjects (female), 10 subjects (male), high jump, long jump, 3 -step jump, dance, throwing plate, throwing hammer, throwing tuberculosis, pushing weights (male – female), 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay (male – female) and 4x400m Mixed male and female relay.
The Vietnamese athletics team aims to win at least 15 to 17 gold medals to maintain the first place. This is not too far away by comparing specific achievements, the number 15-17 gold medals is the target at our fingertips.
We continuously topped the whole delegation in the last two SEA Games, Vietnamese athletics are determined to maintain the first position at the 31st SEA Games. In order to accomplish this goal, Vietnamese Athletics must make great efforts and determination to overcome difficulties, especially in the context of Covid-19 epidemic still complicatedly affects the preparation process of the teams.

According to the list of registration for the 31st SEA Games, the coach of the Vietnam Athletics team is Mr. Nguyen Manh Hieu. This is also the coach in charge of training for the ASIAD 2018 champion, the long jump athlete Bui Thi Thu Thao. Thu Thao has just returned in 2022 after a long time of a motherhood.
The 31st SEA Games will take place from 12-23/May 2022 in Hanoi and 11 neighboring provinces with 40 sports, 526 contents. Right now, Vietnamese athletics are actively preparing forces, ready to conquer the biggest and most important arena of the year.
